Primary care clinicians are an important source of reproductive health care,1 but it can be challenging for busy clinicians to keep up with new developments. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration continues to approve new contraceptive methods, and knowledge of these changes is essential to informed patient-centered decision-making.
Conclusion: To help busy clinicians easily access these recommendations, the CDC's smartphone application (available on iOS and Android platforms) enables users to view recommendations by choosing up to three patient characteristics or medical conditions simultaneously and includes a user tutorial. Users can quickly review practice recommendations for the patient's chosen contraceptive method, such as determining if a backup method is needed when switching to or starting a new contraceptive.
