A Systematic Review of Vitamin D and Fibroids: Pathophysiology, Prevention, and Treatment - PubMed
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35960442/
Uterine fibroids are the most common tumor of reproductive-age women worldwide and cause significant morbidity in affected women. Vitamin D has emerged as a potential therapy for uterine fibroids based...
Discussion: These studies provide evidence for vitamin D as a therapy for uterine fibroids and underscore the need for well-designed, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials.
Ultrasound evaluation of uterine scar thickness after open fetal surgery for myelomeningocele - Child's Nervous System
Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00381-022-05642-0
Purpose This study aimed to analyse the evolution of uterine scar thickness after open fetal surgery for myelomeningocele (MMC) by ultrasonography, and to establish a cut-off point for uterine scar...
Conclusion: A cut-off point of ≤ 3.0 mm in the thickness of the uterine scar after open fetal surgery for MMC may be used during ultrasonography monitoring for decision-making regarding the risk of uterine rupture and indication of caesarean section.
Conclusion: Our results show that there is limited information on the epidemiology of UF and identified gaps in knowledge of UF among women in SSA despite its high prevalence, morbidity and economic costs. We recommend urgent implementation of well-designed and adequately powered studies to address this gap.
The effects of magnesium supplementation on abnormal uterine bleeding, alopecia, quality of life, and acne in women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a randomized clinical trial - Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology
Source : https://rbej.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12958-022-00982-7
Background Abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), alopecia, low quality of life, and acne are considered as complications of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). We hypothesized that magnesium supplementation would yield beneficial effects...
Conclusion: Magnesium supplementation in women with PCOS had a significant positive effect on improving total quality of life.
The Comparison of Life Quality between Ultrasound-Guided High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound and Laparoscopic Myomectomy for the Treatment of Uterine Fibroids
Source : https://www.hindawi.com/journals/cmmm/2022/9604915/
Objective . This study is aimed at comparing the uterine fibroids patients' postoperative living quality between ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and laparoscopic myomectomy. Materials and Methods . A total...
Conclusion: In comparison with laparoscopic myomectomy, ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound can more effectively improve the life quality of patients and contribute to the recovery and prognosis of uterine fibroids after treatment and is valuable in clinical practice.
